Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Chardonnay

This is both very Burgundian in approach, like all of Jim’s wines, yet it has that clear fruit of Santa Barbara County plus that unconditional ripeness. This wine takes a while to really open up into its own but once it does it goes from lemon drops to butterscotch within seconds. It has a core of white peach, vanilla shortbread and lemon crème brulee. Very lightly oaked which gives a roundness on the palate. Far from your ‘classic Californian Chardonnay’ – very Burgundian.
